The most popular girl ends up standing up for her. The theme in this book is "facing reality." In this book, her crushes friend finds her not and gives it to him. It also tells the story through pictures, which is an element you must have when creating a graphic novel. This book is not only told by one character, but two. What aspects does this story have to make it a graphic novel? All in all, Emmie went out of her comfort zone and became more outgoing. After they broke up, Emmie became closer with her crush and even made another friend. After she went through mountains of hardships, when a boy got a hold of a love note, the most popular boy went out with her crush instead of her. In the beginning, Emmie is shy and really only has her best friend, Bri. In the end, she becomes a little closer to Emmie, but her personality and typical feelings, and actions do not change. It tells the story of Emmie who feels invisible in. In the beginning she is the smart, independent girl she is. A book that is written for middle school or tween girls that talks about the social aspects of growing up. This character, also known as Emmie's best friend Bri, doesn't change throughout the story. It is revealed by her actions that she is not a careless and perfect person when she gets angry and stands up for Emmie. The author reveals information through this characters actions and thoughts. For example, on page 93, Emmie's best friend tells her to loosen up a bit. The author gives hints by saying that this character is her own person and is not outgoing, but overall a kind.person by having other characters like Emmie's best friend saying so. As being the awkward and timorous middle schooler she is, Emmie has to learn to tolerate the incident that caused her to escape her boundaries, while the most popular girl dates her crush.
